Managing Ambitious Growth was at the Forefront of a Leading Anesthesia Billing Company

Turning a Specialized Hospital Practice into a Profitable Business

It is not secret that physicians have more responsibilities than simply providing patient care. These responsibilities increase in complexity based on the speciality as well as changes in the industry. Ajuba’s client has developed a business in keeping physicians up-to-date on the complex and ever-changing regulations and compliance, providing metrics and analysis for better decision-making, and keeping ahead of the curve with state-of-the-art technology. Today, this client is the largest physician practice management company specializing exclusively in the practice of Anesthesia and pain management. They serve several thousand anesthesiologists and CRNAs nationwide.

The Challenges of Aggressive Growth

The aggressive growth model of this client was met with the challenges of maintaining superior services to their existing client base. Knowing that they would need to aggressively increase the current level of staffing, expand current facilities to accommodate new growth and increase the level of in-house training and education, The management began to look at an alternative that would allow them to manage their growth plan more quickly and cost effectively.

An Off-Shore Partnership is Formed

This client made the decision to look at outsourcing as an effective alternative in their goal of becoming the largest anesthesia billing business in the nation. Additionally, they realized this solution would reduce in-house costs as well as make them more effective at managing clients and growing their business. The intent of the Client/Ajuba relationship was to establish a partnership that was positioned for growth and knowledge transition over an extended period of time. In the early stages of this relationship, they transitioned specific processes that were more labor intensive such as entering patient specific information into a billing system. As they were able to measure the success of this transition, they quickly began to look at other processes that would provide them greater benefits. “Our biggest challenges are qualified personnel and cost” said the director of the business office. “With Ajuba, we are able to significantly impact both of these areas”. Today, 4 years into the relationship with Ajuba, they outsource every aspect of their back office from data entry to such specialty areas as medical coding. They invested heavily up front in the transition of the knowledge and has been an ongoing part of Ajuba's expertise in the area of anesthesia billing. The CEO attributes the outsourcing relationship with Ajuba to substantial increases in his revenue and growth in his business over the past few years. Ajuba currently has a staff of over 200 employees dedicated to services provided.
